## Visitor facts

### Booking & check-in

The city uses Statusfy for text and email alerts when the rinks open or close, and a status line at 847-448-0034; crews work on the rinks Monday to Friday, not on holidays or weekends.

### Amenities

The city's outdoor ice rink at Arrington Lagoon in Dawes Park is a lined rink that Public Works floods; skating through thin ice can cut the liner and let the water out.

### Rink rules

The rink has no attendants and no open shelter house. Skaters are asked to check ice conditions themselves and skate at their own risk; the rink is cleared after snow is removed from city buildings' lots, sidewalks and paths.

## Notices

- The City of Evanston's outdoor skating page says it anticipates the outdoor ice season to be mid-December through mid-February, depending on the weather. Public Works makes the ice only when frost depth and forecast allow, so no 2026/27 opening date is posted; status is on Statusfy and a phone line.
