GoalieParts Mail-In Sharpening

Mail-in skate sharpening and profiling (GoalieParts)

GoalieParts Mail-In Sharpening storefront
The Sportsplex front entrance on a sunny day: dark green 'Sportsplex' lettering on the canopy over the glass doors, a tall glazed brick window bay above, and benches on the plaza outside. Mail-in skates are sharpened at the GoalieParts counter inside.

GoalieParts, the goalie store at the Darien Sportsplex, also takes skates by post. You order a sharpening or a ProSharp profile online, send the steel to Darien, and the shop sends it back finished; the service is aimed at players with no reliable sharpener nearby.

Profiling by post is the more unusual offer. The shop runs a ProSharp AS2001 with a large library of templates, which matters most for goalies, whose blades are usually profiled flatter than a skater’s; players who want a specific radius can ask for it in the order.

Send the runners with guards on and padded, and order early before a tournament weekend to allow for the post both ways. If you live in the western suburbs, the Darien counter is a quicker route.

Sharpens: profiling / contouring. Not stated: hockey, goalie, figure, speed / long-track, recreational & rental.

Sharpening: price and wait

  • Sharpening: $8
  • Profiling: $39.99
