What this place is
A mobile skate sharpening service run by skating professionals, setting up at rinks in Chicago, the suburbs and Milwaukee; booked online.
Skate Sharpening Corp. is a mobile sharpening service run by skating professionals, with a sharpening unit that sets up at rinks around Chicago, the suburbs and Milwaukee. There is no shop to visit: you book a slot online and meet the sharpener at a rink on the published day.
It works across the disciplines, from learn-to-skate and freestyle to ice dance, synchronized skating and hockey, and its price list has separate lines for several specialty figure blades, which tells you it is used to competitive equipment. It also offers rust removal for a neglected pair.
Because the unit moves between rinks, check the booking page for where it will be before you plan around it. Families who skate at McFetridge or the Blackhawks’ Fifth Third Arena are close to its city base.
