What this place is
A figure skating shop between Rinks A and B at the Detroit Skating Club, with a second store at Arctic Edge in Canton.

Detroit Custom Skate Shop sits between Rinks A and B inside the Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield Hills, a club with a long history of national and world-level figure skaters. The shop has served the area for about 25 years and was renamed when its current owner took over in late 2020.
It sharpens hockey skates as well as figure skates, with separate prices for recreational and competitive figure blades. Appointments are strongly advised, walk-ins are taken when a sharpener is free, and skates dropped off are usually ready the next day.
Fittings take half an hour to an hour, the owner holds technician and boot-shaping authorizations from the boot makers, and mounting is included with new boots and blades bought here. The shop also rents skates by the day or for the season. Fred’s Skate Sharpening, a separate figure specialist, is in the same building.
