What this place is
A Troy skate service shop for hockey players, goalies and figure skaters.
SkateWorks
SkateWorks is a skate service shop in a small plaza on East Wattles Road in Troy, with a neon skate sharpening sign in the window. It works on player, goalie and figure skates, and its own pages put profiling and custom sharpening at the centre of what it does.
The shop uses the ICON process for profiling and sharpening, and its sharpening form lets a skater choose a hollow radius or a flat-bottom V. Beyond the edge, it replaces blades and holders, straightens blades, stretches and punches boots, and snow-seals figure skate boots, which it recommends once a year.
There is a drop box for skates outside opening hours, and players from outside Michigan can ship skates in with a return label. Buffalo Wild Wings Arena, the Troy Sports Center, is under a mile away, so a pair dropped off on the way to practice is a short detour.
Sharpens: hockey, goalie, figure, profiling / contouring. Not stated: speed / long-track, recreational & rental.
