Athens' permanent natural-ice rink, revived in Aigaleo in 2014 after a 1978 Moschato original

Ice n' Skate in Aigaleo calls itself the only permanent ice rink in Athens: an 800-square-metre natural-ice sheet looked after by a Zamboni, three minutes from Elaionas metro station. The building also has changing rooms with lockers and a party room.

The family behind it has a long record on the ice. Iosif Kapetanidis created a seasonal rink in 2008, and his father Ioannis had built the first permanent rink in Moschato in 1978; it ran for almost two decades, and the first skating clubs and the rinks federation were founded there. In 2014 Iosif revived the idea of a permanent rink by founding Ice n Skate in Aigaleo.

Besides public sessions the rink runs lessons and ice hockey academies for children from 7, offers curling, and holds a Halloween party every October, with figure-skating shows twice a year.
