Alpenarena opened in 2007 on the former Kurcafé site; 1,100 m² of artificial ice and three ice stock lanes

The Alpenarena in Bad Hofgastein is an arena that recalls an amphitheatre. It was built on the site of the former Kurcafé, a choice that followed the spa town's long tradition of classical music for its guests, and the grounds opened in 2007. The municipality owns it and the Kur- und Tourismusverband manages it, working closely with the local clubs.
In winter the grounds are used as an ice rink: an artificial-ice surface of 1,100 square metres and three ice stock lanes of 500 square metres, by the Kursaal. The rest of the year the arena hosts everything from a May festival and concerts to public viewing.
A report of April 2025 described the Alpenarena as a successful event location, with plans for a retractable roof over the whole arena and a new stage.
