Białystok's BOSiR rink: a roofed hall built in stages since 1998
The covered rink in Zwierzyniec grew in stages. First building work began in 1998, and the rink in its present form was opened in 2002; before that, an open-air, artificially frozen rink stood on the site. A warm-up hall for skaters with a 50-metre tartan track followed in 2011, hockey boards were fitted around the ice in 2015, and in 2021 the lighting was modernised and the ice slab repaired.
The hall has a 30 by 60 metre ice sheet and seats 685 people. BOSiR calls it the largest indoor sports and recreation venue in Białystok, and its position beside Zwierzyniec Park keeps it close to the city centre.
Beyond skating, it has hosted dozens of events, among them karate championships and concerts by Budka Suflera. The rink runs from autumn to early spring and, since September 2026, daily.
