Short track world championships host and the Italian team's federal training centre
The Palaghiaccio Braulio in Bormio has an artificially refrigerated rink approved by the FISG and four changing rooms with showers. A standard short track lap here is 111.12 metres long, with 8.50-metre bends. Today it is the federal centre of the Italian short track national team, and many national squads choose Bormio for training and preparation.
It has hosted international short track more than once: the World Ranking in 1997, the team world championships in 1998, the European championships in 2000, a World Cup stage in February 2004 and the junior world championships from 30 January to 2 February 2020.
The rink is the base of Bormio Ghiaccio, a skating club whose members include Arianna Fontana, and it hosts the home games of Hockey Club Bormio. A coffee-break room next to the ice is a place to rest between sessions.
