Building the Zimní stadion in Břeclav began in the spring of 1969, and the rink was completed in November 1972 and, after a month of trial operation, officially opened on 1 December 1972 by representatives of the town and the district. A steel roof over the ice followed in 1979 and the stands were finished in 1983-84. The whole stadium was declared complete only in 2009, after forty years.
The ice and its cooling grid were rebuilt in 1985 and again in the summer of 2007, a new Zamboni arrived in 2002, and LED lighting replaced the old lamps in 2020. In 2010 the wooden seats gave way to plastic ones, which cut the capacity from 4,800 to 4,039 seats.
The stadium's own history page remarks that a small district town has a rather large stadium, one that some extraliga clubs would be glad to have. It was run first by TJ Slovan Břeclav, then by the town's technical services, and since 1990 by Tereza Břeclav.
