South America's largest covered ice rink, built over four years in Villa Devoto

Fantasy Skate in Villa Devoto bills itself as the largest covered ice rink in South America. The club says it took more than four years to build and ended with a sheet of ice and stands for 500 people. Its founders describe the rink as a dream come true: that the different ice sports could be played properly in Argentina, and that the rink could become a nursery for figure skating and ice hockey in the country.

Alongside recreational skating, the rink runs figure-skating and ice-hockey programmes, and its site publishes the statistics of an inter-club ice-hockey tournament played on the ice. It also calls itself the only place in Argentina where curling is played, and says it imports the official stones directly. The ice is resurfaced with an Olympia machine brought from Canada, which the rink runs every day at 15:15, and again at 21:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.

Between sessions, skaters can rest at Valentino, a café on the first floor with a view of the ice, or at a burger bar with craft beer.
