Built in two stages: an uncovered rink in 2015, then a roof and an opening in December 2016
Čáslav built its winter stadium next to the municipal baths in Vodranty, and work on the rink, meant for the public and for the ice hockey club, began in May 2015. The first stage covered the rink, the foundation structures and the cooling system, and the rink was designed to work even without a roof. That first winter it ran uncovered for three months, and mayor Jaromír Strnad said he was surprised by how many people wanted to skate on it.
The roof followed in 2016. By August the steel structure was finished and the rough shell of the support building was nearly done: changing rooms, a skate-sharpening room, a buffet, a gym and facilities for the hockey club. In early December 2016 the building was approved for use, with the official opening planned for 18 December, and the hockey players tried the new ice in a first competitive match before that.
HC Čáslav was founded in 2016 after the first winter stadium in the town opened. Before that, the town's hockey section Slavoj Čáslav played only district competitions on natural ice. The stadium holds 800 spectators, and since 2017/18 HC Čáslav has played in the Central Bohemian regional league, the fourth tier of Czech hockey.
