A diamond-shaped hall that took Fiemme hockey to Serie A

The Stadio del Ghiaccio in Cavalese is a diamond-shaped building in the centre of the town, close to the lifts of the Alpe Cermis. It was built in the 1980s by the town administration, beside the departure station of the Cermis cable car.

Ice hockey had begun to develop in Val di Fiemme in the 1950s, at first on open-air ice. The new stadium allowed Hockey Fiemme to rise to Serie A in 1987.

Today the stadium is the base of the Valdifiemme Hockey Club, Artistico Ghiaccio Fiemme and Fiemme On Ice. The women's team began in the Italian Hockey League Women in 2019-2020 and has been called Trentino Women since 2023-2024. The tourist board describes the hall as a place to spend an afternoon or an evening on skates, in winter and in summer, with family or friends.
