Built in 1972-73 with a 30 by 60 metre ice surface; new roof in 2013; renovated and extended 2016-2018
The Eisstadion Deggendorf was built in 1972 and 1973 in two stages. The first stage brought the 30 by 60 metre ice surface, the stands and the service building, and the roof followed in 1973. It is the home ground of the ice-hockey club Deggendorfer SC.
In 2013 the worn-out roof was removed and a new steel roof built in a conversion of just under six weeks, and the Deggendorfer SC played its first game under it on 24 November 2013 against the Blue Devils Weiden. In March 2016 the city announced it wanted to buy the hall back, with federal funding to help.
The hall belongs to the Berthold-Heckscher-Sportanlage. Between October 2016 and August 2018 it was renovated and extended with a new building on the south side, and the mercury-vapour lighting over the ice was replaced by LED lights.
