Deventer's ice rink, open since 1993, with a 400 m track and a curling lane

The ice rink is part of the De Scheg sports centre, which the then Prince Willem-Alexander officially opened on 8 October 1993. It has a 400 metre track, skated anticlockwise, and a centre ice with room to practise with a skating aid or spin on figure skates. Its 43 metre curling lane is one of the few official ones in a Dutch rink.

Schaatsschool De Scheg teaches children and adults at several levels. Deventer IJsclub (DIJC) and Baanvereniging Deventer are among the associations listed as using the ice. The rink belongs to Sportbedrijf Deventer, which builds, manages and runs indoor sports facilities.

The complex has been in heavy use for more than 30 years. Deventer's council voted unanimously for its renovation on 11 March 2026. In October 2026 the rink announced that a defect in its cooling system could not be repaired, so the planned opening on 10 October would not happen.
