A 250 m² open-air rink at the Plätzle an der Freilichtbühne, part of the Donauwörth Christmas trail
Currently out of season The Schlittschuhbahn at the Plätzle an der Freilichtbühne is announced by the city for 19 November 2026 to 10 January 2027; the weekly hours are on the city's page (checked 3 October 2026). Official schedule update
The Schlittschuhbahn on the Plätzle an der Freilichtbühne is skating under the open sky and one stop on the Plätzleweg, the trail the town lays out for its Weihnachtsduft, which runs from the Reichsstraße to the open-air stage, along the promenade and the town hall to the Spitalstraße and the Ried.
The city says the rink has developed impressively in recent years: visitor numbers doubled the last time and the number of school classes using it tripled. Its surface measures about 250 square metres, and in the mornings it is reserved for schools and kindergartens.
The operator presents the rink as a chance to spend time with family and friends. Around it the Plätzle offers carousel rides, ice-stock shooting on the lane at the Mangoldfelsen and laser biathlon, so there is something for small and large winter fans.
