A bandy field frozen artificially since 2002

The Marienlyst kunstisbane is the artificially frozen bandy field that opened in 2002 on the Marienlyst sports ground in Strømsø, and it shares its changing-room building with the Marienlyst football stadium. The ice is laid over artificial turf, and in summer the same field is used as an artificial-grass football pitch. It also has room for a 400-metre speed-skating track, and the Norwegian senior all-round championships were held on it in 2005.

Sport has long used this ground. Marienlyst was an Olympic venue in 1952, when two ice hockey matches of the Oslo Games were played here, and a trotting track lay where the ice rink, the open-air baths and the artificial-turf pitch now are until Drammen's trotting track moved to Åssiden in 1955. The park is also home to Strømsgodset's football stadium, and Drammen Skøiteklubb holds its training sessions on the whole rink on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
