The Stadtwerke Eisvergnügen turns the Holstenplatz at Elmshorn station into a winter meeting place from mid-November to early January. The rink covers about 350 square metres, with lighting effects and music on the ice and a changing area on site. It is organised by Stadtmarketing Elmshorn with interevent as the contractor.
Next to the ice the Weihnachtsschänke serves mulled wine, punch and grilled specialities, and a pagoda tent with about 40 seats takes small Christmas parties. The season opens on Friday 13 November at 18:00 with a show of fire artistry, dance and light, and the 18th Elmshorn ice stock championships are held on Monday to Wednesday evenings before Christmas. School classes skate on weekday mornings and public skating runs from 13:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 at weekends.
