Falköping's volunteer-built Odenrinken, inaugurated in October 1984

Ice hockey in Falköping lay dormant for a couple of decades until the artificial ice rink at Ållebergsgymnasiet was finished in 1974 and the club formed a hockey section again. From 1974 to 1983 the team played on the windy open rink, the "moonlight rink", and the youth side grew steadily.

In 1984 a group of hardworking volunteers saw the need for an ice hall and formed Ishallsföreningen, with Lars-Åke Gelang as chairman. The hall was put up over the summer and Odenrinken was inaugurated on 27 October 1984 after many unpaid hours of work. It was then a shell that was completed into its present form over ten years.

The hall gave hockey in the town a real boost: membership and the number of active players rose sharply, youth teams played in Västergötland's elite series, and every year in the 1990s a Falköping player made the TV-Pucken squads. IFK Falköping Ishockeyklubb was formed at a meeting on 4 October 1998 and took the name Blue Riders from a local legend of twelve knights sleeping in Ålleberg.
