Opened in December 1979 after decades of rinks at Lunnevi; home of Hammarö HC and a figure skating club
Ice hockey on Hammarö started in 1943, among the first hockey clubs in Värmland. In 1952 Skoghalls IF opened a rink at Lunnevi with a game against Tre Kronor, who were training in Grums ahead of the Oslo Winter Olympics, with Sven Tumba and Lasse Björn on the ice.
The hall in Skoghall was inaugurated in December 1979 with a match between Färjestad and Dynamo Riga. IFK Skoghall, formed in 1963 when Skoghalls IF and Vidöns IK merged, had run football, bandy, ice hockey and handball, and its hockey later became Hammarö HC, formed in September 1972.
Hammarö HC is one of Värmland's biggest hockey clubs, with 456 active members, most of them children and young people, and it aims to be a nursery of talent for teams in higher divisions. The hall is shared with the figure skating club, which offers everything from skating school to elite competition.
