Hemse ishall on southern Gotland was given a thorough facelift and is ready for use again. It was officially reopened on a Monday in January 2025 after the rebuild. Region Gotland's head of leisure, the chair of Sudrets hockey club and the responsible politicians cut the ribbon. The region's chair said that after many years of longing, and because Hemse had named the ice hall as important for its development, a modernised ice hall could finally be seen in southern Gotland.
The rebuild gave the hall new boards, because the old ones no longer met the Swedish Ice Hockey Association's rules. The gravel bed that the ice used to lie on was replaced by a concrete slab, with hoses in the slab that cool from underneath and give better ice. The upgrade allows a longer season and broader use of the hall.
