IJsvereniging Hoogkerk: the rink on the Zuiderweg, run by about twenty volunteers, mown by sheep
Currently out of season IJsvereniging Hoogkerk's natural-ice rink on the Zuiderweg is closed for now: the club's home page shows 'G E S L O T E N' and adds that the rink was open for one afternoon. Its opening-hours page gives the regular hours when the ice is open (Monday to Friday 14.00 to 21.30, Saturday 10.00 to 21.30, Sunday 13.00 to 18.00). The club's news page lists a new water pump fitted in December 2025, and the site also follows a project called Multiplein for the grounds. No sessions are listed here. Checked 11 October 2026. Official schedule update
IJsvereniging Hoogkerk runs its natural-ice rink on the Zuiderweg, next to the sports hall and the Vensterschool. In summer the grass is kept short by sheep, and the board of three is helped by about twenty volunteers.
The volunteers look after the rink, watch over the ice while people skate and take care of the grounds. Opening hours are posted for Monday to Sunday, and in school holidays the rink may also open in the morning from Monday to Friday.
The club's news shows the work behind the ice: in March 2025 the first borings were made on the rink grounds, and in December 2025 the electric water pump was fitted again so that enough water could reach the rink in the coming days.
