Built for the ERC Ingolstadt, open for public skating since 2005

The SATURN-Arena was built for the ice-hockey team of the ERC Ingolstadt. The old ice stadium on the Jahnstraße had aged, and the new arena went up on the former sports ground of the Pionierkaserne on the Schanz. It was designed by the Stuttgart architect Horst Haag and opened on 3 October 2003.

Citizens have been able to skate in the hall since October 2005. The arena and the second ice hall on the Südliche Ringstraße offer two ice surfaces for children and adults, and for ice-hockey games the arena holds up to 4,591 people. The Stadtwerke Ingolstadt Freizeitanlagen GmbH runs it.

Ingolstadt's schools can use the second ice hall for physical education on the ice, and the association Goals for Kids has made it possible for people with disabilities to take part in skating.
