İzmir's municipal ice hall, set in the Aşık Veysel Recreation Area in Bornova
The İzmir Aşık Veysel Buz Sporları Salonu is the Olympic-size ice hall of the Aşık Veysel Recreation Area, which İzmir Metropolitan Municipality built on 231,000 square metres in Bornova. The area has counted among İzmir's sports, entertainment and arts centres since 2010 and also holds a 5,000-seat open-air theatre, 125,000 square metres of green space and a pond of 1,500 square metres.
The hall itself stands on 12,000 square metres, with stands for 1,819 spectators. At the back, a 61-metre concrete wall carries a polycarbonate screen that keeps noise down.
Public sessions run on weekdays and weekends, Sundays included, and the rink takes up to 300 skaters at a time. The hall also hosts competitions and tournaments under the programmes of the Turkish Ice Skating Federation and the Turkish Ice Hockey Federation.
