From natural ice on volleyball courts in the 1950s to a covered stadium with a small Canadian-size surface
The history of Jablonec's winter stadium starts in the 1950s and 1960s with natural ice on the volleyball courts of TJ Bižuterie, where women played the volleyball extraliga in summer. On the same spot the first artificial ice surface, also owned by TJ Bižuterie, was in operation from 1973.
In 1996 the youth coach and then stadium manager Petr Cinibulk proposed building a covered winter stadium in Jablonec, after hundreds of youth training sessions in poor weather. He meant it to serve not only hockey players but the wider public, and API Studio carried out the project. Operation was suspended and then restored on 9 February 2006 after a fault in the cooling equipment was fixed.
The municipal stadium holds 875 spectators. Its ice surface measures 58 by 26 metres, a deliberately reduced surface with Canadian parameters, and the building also has a gym with a weights room. The season runs from August to March.
