Roofed 800 m2 public rink on Jelgava's Pasta sala island, opened to visitors on 1 September 2018
Currently out of season Pasta salas publiskā slidotava in Jelgava (run by the Zemgale Olympic Centre) is closed for now: the centre's winter page announced the last three days of the season (13-15 March 2026), and its summer page lists the rink area as a booking-only sports court from 15 June. No date for the 2026/27 season is posted yet, so no sessions are listed here. Checked 11 October 2026. Official schedule update
The Pasta sala public rink is a city-run ice sport and leisure site on the island of Pasta sala in Jelgava, and the Zemgale Olympic Centre owns it. In early 2017 Jelgava's council announced a roof for the rink and the open-air stage beside it, to lengthen the skating season and shelter events from bad weather.
The roof was handed over on 9 August 2018, and the rink opened to visitors on 1 September 2018, free of charge, with an invitation to try roller skating. Its glued-timber beams carry a transparent tent covering that keeps rain and wind off the ice, and the roof was designed so the ice can run when it is around +5 °C outside.
The playing surface measures 40 by 20 metres. Because the surface is multi-purpose, the same court holds ice through the cold months and can serve roller skating, inline hockey, floorball and street basketball in the warm ones, and sessions with hockey sticks are held as well.
