Ice arena with stands for 3,000, in a sports palace opened in 2021 on the site of a 1926 stadium
No public skating is posted for the next 7 days. New sessions show here as soon as the rink posts them.
The Central Sports Palace stands on the site of Kaluga's city stadium, which appeared in 1926. The stadium was rebuilt in 1965-67 and gained a third, western stand, and from autumn 2006 it effectively stopped working as a stadium. It stood until 2017, and on 21 December 2017 its demolition began, with construction of the sports palace of the same name.
The palace opened in a ceremony on 27 August 2021, timed to the city's 650th anniversary. It stands on 2.5 hectares in the city centre and consists of three buildings, the tallest 60 metres high. The ice arena has a rink with stands for 3,000 spectators, strength, acrobatics and choreography halls, a theory classroom and a museum of sporting glory.
The complex hosts athletes' training camps as well as international-level competitions.
