A 2006 ice hall and a 2020 ice arena on Backavallen, with artificial ice there since 1964
No public skating is posted for the next 7 days. New sessions show here as soon as the rink posts them.
Backavallen in Katrineholm has had artificial ice since 1964, when its bandy rink was frozen by machine. An ice hall was added in 2006, and in 2020 a new ice arena was built next to it. The older hall has been called Woodyhallen and Fastighetsbyrån Arena; the food producer Kronfågel, one of Katrineholm's largest employers and a partner of the municipality, became its name sponsor in 2020.
Kronfågel isarena and Kronfågel ishall are home to figure skating, indoor long-distance skating, curling, ice hockey, speed skating, bandy and public skating. The ice hall uses carbon dioxide as the coolant in copper pipes under the ice, and with heat recovery from the compressors it is said to save more energy than any other ice hall in Sweden.
The halls are part of a joint project called Tillsammans på isen för Katrineholm, run by the municipality, the local clubs Backa KK, Katrineholm Hockey and KVBS, Friluftsfrämjandet and Kronfågel.
