The speed skating centre of Kolomna, opened in 2006, with public mass-skating sessions

The Kolomna Speed Skating Centre of Moscow Oblast opened on 31 May 2006, to a design by Nodar Kancheli. It replaced an artificial speed skating track that the city had opened in 1969, and it is a municipal budget institution with an ice arena, a medical recovery centre, a pool with saunas and gyms in a building of more than 70,000 square metres.

Kolomna became a base for the Olympic preparation of top skaters, and two of the three medals Russian skaters took at the 2006 Olympics belong to skaters from the town, Dmitry Dorofeev and Ekaterina Lobysheva. Public mass-skating sessions run for an hour and a half on selected days and are listed month by month.

The hire point and the sharpening workshop sit by the entrance to the ice, and one adult may accompany a child to the stands.
