Covered winter stadium of a hockey club with roots in 1932

Organised hockey in Kopřivnice dates to November 1932, when the new SK Kopřivnice joined the second class of the Silesian hockey district. The town's workers' club added a hockey section in 1936, and after the war the clubs merged as SK Tatra Kopřivnice, tied to the Tatra car works. Its men's team regularly played in the first or second Czechoslovak league.

The club first gained an artificial ice surface and then a roof over it, which made the winter stadium as it stands today. Alois Galia, who revived hockey in the town after the war, is remembered as the spiritual father and builder of the stadium. The ice measures 60 by 28 metres.

TATRA Kopřivnice became Hockey Club Kopřivnice on 1 January 1991. The 70th anniversary in 2002 brought NHL stars to a ball-hockey match, and Radek Bonk, Václav Varaďa, Pavel Kubina and Tomáš Fleischmann are among the best-known names to pass through the club. In 2024-25 the men began an 11th straight season in the second league.
