Kurashiki's year-round 60 by 30 metre rink, run by the university's sports division
Healthpia Kurashiki reopened on 1 December 2014 as a rink that stays open all year. The ice measures 60 by 30 metres, and clubs for figure skating, ice hockey, speed skating and curling use it, as do school clubs, training camps, children's groups, tyre tests and test drives.
Public skating fits around those bookings, so the rink publishes one season chart that shows, day by day, when the ice is open to everyone. Gloves must be worn, only skates are allowed on the ice, and speeding, skating the wrong way round and zig-zagging are forbidden.
The rink is on the Healthpia Kurashiki sports campus, which also has bouldering, tennis, futsal, squash and table tennis. Skaters who practise jumps and spins must fill in the holes they leave in the ice before they finish.
