Artificial ice since 1957, rebuilt for 2021

Artificial ice was first made in Landshut in 1957, when the stadium on the Gutenbergweg was still open to the sky, and the roofed ice hall was inaugurated ten years later. The club-owned stadium was sold to the city in 1981, and a second ice surface was added when the hall became a state performance centre for ice hockey.

Structural problems in the roof and outdated technology from the 1980s led to a rebuilding in three stages from May 2019, with a new roof, modern refrigeration using waste heat, a smaller ice surface, new ventilation, LED lighting and a new east standing stand. The capacity dropped from nearly 7,000 to 4,448, and the project cost about 23.3 million euros.

The renovated stadium opened in time for the 2021/22 season with 2,539 standing and 1,909 seated places. The city runs it as a public facility, and the second ice surface and the Landesleistungszentrum of the Bavarian ice sports association are part of it.
