Luxembourg's first big indoor rink, open since 1974

The Patinoire Kockelscheuer opened in November 1974 and gave the Grand Duchy its first major indoor ice rink; Hiversport Luxembourg set up its ice hockey team there, known as HC Luxembourg. The main arena holds 1,000 spectators, and a second rink beside it is used mainly for practice. In April 2014 it hosted the IIHF World Championship Division III, and Equans Services S.A. runs it today.

Many clubs share the ice. The rink's club page lists figure skating, ice dance, short track, curling, ice stock and two ice hockey clubs, and Tornado Luxembourg plays home games in the main arena while public skating carries on in the second hall. Curling Luxembourg calls itself the Grand Duchy's first curling club, dating from 1976, and now curls on summer ice from May to August. Each spring the Coupe du Printemps brings figure skaters from around the world, and Disco on Ice nights add music and lights through the season.
