Marchtrenk's ice and asphalt hall, host of the 2023 Austrian ice-sport championships
The Eishalle Marchtrenk is the town's ice and asphalt hall, part of its leisure centre. In the 2022/23 season about a third of its energy came from the solar panels of the neighbouring open-air pool. Around 17,000 visitors skated there from late October to early March, and about 17,500 the season after, when almost 4,000 pairs of skates were rented and over 2,000 group tickets were sold to clubs and schools.
The town named its hockey and ice stock clubs and school classes among the users of the ice. The EC Eisbären Marchtrenk aims to introduce children aged 4 to 12 to skating and above all to ice hockey in and around the hall, with training times adapted for children by the town.
In late January of the 2022/23 season the hall was the venue for the Austrian championships of all ice and stock sport disciplines. Hermann Wimhofer of ESV ASKÖ Eisbär Marchtrenk won the seniors' stock-sport title on home ice. The 21st Marchtrenk town championships in ice stock sport drew 22 groups of four, and in 2023/24 the ice disco ran three times with more than 600 visitors.
