Ralph Erskine's ice hall on the Pinbacken hill, number 180 in Sweden when it opened in 1986
Currently out of season Sigtuna kommun says public skating in both halls of Pinbackshallen (the A-hall is being renovated) is closed for the season and opens again in week 42, from 12 October 2026; it prints no timetable yet ('exakta tider kommer snart'), so none is shown here. Checked on 11 October 2026. Official schedule update
Pinbackshallen in Märsta was built in 1986 to a design by the architect Ralph Erskine, and was then ice hall number 180 in Sweden. Märsta was meant to be built on four hills, Valsta, Pinbacken, Brista and Norrbacka, and the hill that was not built on for housing, because it lay too close to the approach to Arlanda airport's runway, became the site of this hall.
Sigtuna municipality owns and runs the hall and rents it to, among others, the hockey club Wings HC Arlanda and Sigtuna skridskoklubb. It has 420 seats and 800 standing places. Beside it stands the "B-hall", a cold hall without stands that used to be an outdoor rink and is used only for training; matches and shows take place in the A-hall, where Wings also have their office.
The hall is the home arena of Wings HC Arlanda, the first club of the NHL player William Karlsson, who was born in Märsta, and TV-pucken matches have been played here.
