The Eissporthalle Mondsee began as the town's Stocksporthalle, an ice-stock hall that was, in the words of its operators, structurally prepared for winter ice sport. The go-ahead for turning it into an ice hall came in 2007, when the ventilation and refrigeration plant could be installed, and the first ice season began on 29 November 2008. It has since become a fixture of the Mondseeland's winter sport and leisure calendar.
The Moonlakers Eissport Union runs the hall. Its youth Hockeytime started as a leisure activity and has become a hit, with the three weekly training sessions fully booked every season. Skating courses are run in ability groups, and hobby hockey teams book fixed ice times at least once a week. Schools bring their classes, and the pupils' families follow to the public skating sessions. A buffet in the hall offers a break after the rounds on the ice.
