The heart of the Bagration sports palace, opened in Mozhaysk in 2004
The Bagration sports palace in Mozhaysk was built under the Moscow Oblast government programme for sports facilities. Its foundation stone was laid on 11 December 2001, and it opened on 23 June 2004, with a descendant of the famous general Bagration, Prince Leonid Bagration-Ionn-Brandt, among the guests.
The palace's own pages call the ice arena its heart. The stands hold 580 spectators, and up to 800 people for concerts with a floor seating area. The ice is made by York International refrigeration, two Olimpia Millennium resurfacers and a water treatment system, and visitors get four spacious changing rooms.
The palace won the Grand Prix of the national Sports Industry of Russia competition in 2005 for the category of sports buildings.
