Nordkraft Arena in Narvik was opened for free skating on 27 December 2010. The contract to build the ice hall was signed in May 2007, and it took nearly 20 years of work before the hall could be realised. It was financed with lottery funds and contributions from local business.
The multi-use hall sits on the third and fourth floors above shops, with a gym on the fourth floor, and has a 30 by 60 metre ice surface. The cultural opening came during Winter Festival Week 2011, with the mayor performing the ceremony and the band Postgirobygget the first to play in what the arena calls Northern Norway's biggest ice hall. The opening party on the ice followed on 24 September 2011.
Narvik Hockey - Arctic Eagles call the arena home, and it also hosts ice-time rentals for schools, kindergartens, businesses and private users. Åpen Hall, a low-threshold offer for everyone, is to be continued and developed.
