IJsvereniging Nieuwerkerk: 't Winterhof, a land-ice rink behind the Unastraat since 2006
Currently out of season IJsvereniging Nieuwerkerk's land-ice rink 't Winterhof at Kluunpad 1 is closed for now: the club's home page shows an 'IJsbaan gesloten' sign and says that when it freezes the page states whether the rink is open, about to open or closed. The news page says the rink was ready for a frost period in January 2026, with 15 cm of water on it, and that volunteers held a cleaning morning on 26 September 2026. No sessions are listed here. Checked 11 October 2026. Official schedule update
IJsvereniging Nieuwerkerk is the oldest surviving association in the village, going back to 1893. Since December 2006 there has been skating on a spacious and safe rink on the Kluunpad behind the Unastraat, and in 2009 a survey chose the rink as the village youth's favourite facility.
The rink is an oval of 42 by 130 metres with a practice area of 20 by 50 metres attached. It is a so-called land-ice rink sown with grass: a plastic sheet lies buried at 40 cm depth with a closable drainage system on top. At the start of December the drainage is closed and about 15 to 20 cm of fresh water is pumped onto the rink.
The club's news keeps skaters informed: in January 2026 the rink stood ready for a frost with 15 cm of water on it, and in September volunteers held a cleaning morning before the winter.
