Town-owned since its 1973 opening, roofed in 1980, home of HK Nový Jičín with a 2,000-seat stand
The Zimní stadion in Nový Jičín, known locally as Zimák, opened in 1973 as an open-air rink and was roofed in 1980, after seven years of use. The town owns it and pays for its operation, and it is the home of the hockey club HK Nový Jičín and its youth teams, the Ďáblíci. The stand holds 2,000 spectators and the ice measures 60 by 30 metres.
The town rebuilt the stadium in stages. The first stage, in 2001 and 2002, brought new facilities for the players and new washrooms; in 2007 the ice sheet was laid anew with new cooling systems and plexiglass, and part of the stand gained seats. A VIP area followed in 2009. In 2020 the stadium received a new scoreboard, and its roof, lighting and ventilation were rebuilt.
The season the hall remembers best is 2000/01, when the club won the Second League East and the stands sold out. The stadium reports about 170,000 visitors in a winter and about 80,000 in the shorter summer.
