Okayama's year-round international-size rink, reopened in 2011 after half a century
Okayama International Skating Rink is a year-round rink with a history of about fifty years; it reopened in May 2011 in a new building. The main rink is an international-size 30 by 60 metre sheet with NHL-specification tempered-glass boards, and the rink says it keeps the ice in top condition with modern ice-making and careful maintenance.
Besides the ice, the building has a 183 square metre dance studio with mirrors along one wall and a 76 square metre multipurpose room for meetings and classes. Lockers can be rented.
Public skating takes place in the afternoon, and the monthly booking chart shows which hours go to clubs and teams. Gloves must be worn on the ice, and skates with long speed-skating blades are not allowed during public sessions.
