A natural-ice rink at sports park De Elskens in Oosterhout Noord, flooded with a siphon and fire-brigade water

The natural-ice rink of IJs- en Skeelerclub Oosterhout lies in the Dommelbergen district of Oosterhout Noord, at sports park De Elskens. While it is open the Elskensweg is closed to all traffic with warning boards, and visitors with skates are welcome to warm up in the clubhouse.

The club floods the rink with a siphon system. In the winter of 2025-26 the first water ran onto the rink on 10 December and on 14 December the fire brigade helped by pumping in another 1,200 cubic metres. The club also notes that its rink holds only about 20 cm of water, so it freezes faster than the 1 m of open water that weather forecasts assume.

The clubhouse has two toilets and a warm welcome, and the club's own rink is where its members, who skate here free, come when there is natural ice.
