Opened in 1961, flooded in 1997 and reopened in January 1998, by the Odra amphitheatre in Opole
Opole's artificial ice rink Toropol was opened in 1961 and thoroughly modernised in the 1970s. In 1997 the flood of the millennium inundated it, and after a major rebuild it reopened in January 1998. On 8 February 1998 it hosted a friendly between the national teams of Poland and Canada.
The rink stands on Pasieka Island in the east of the city, opposite the amphitheatre. It is the home ice of the hockey side Orlik Opole, and figure skaters and short-track skaters train there too; Toropol staged the Polish Short Track Championships in February 2017. It has 3,000 seats.
MOSiR says public sessions are watched over by Ice Marshals who look after safety and atmosphere on the ice, and describes the rink as running almost all year round, including the summer, when athletes use it to prepare for the season.
