A municipal sports centre that grew from one pool

The Palaghiaccio is part of the Centro Sportivo Plebiscito, a municipal facility that began in 1983 as a single pool and has grown into one of the largest multi-sport complexes in northern Italy. 2001 Team has run it since 1983 and, in agreement with the city, has expanded it over the years.

Besides the ice rink, the centre has five pools, gyms and ten tennis courts, and its teams include women's Serie A2 tennis, Serie A squash, synchronised swimming, padel, ice hockey and figure skating. The rink is the home of the Plebiscito Padova Waves, the centre's senior ice hockey team, who in 2026/27 play their third consecutive season in the IHL Division I championship.

This season the Waves hockey and Ice Skate Academy courses restarted on 14 September, and in October the rink's public skating returns, with the turns for the month posted by date.
