Real ice in a film-studio hall

The Eisbahn im Filmpark Babelsberg is a seasonal indoor rink with 650 square metres of real ice, set up in the Metropolis Halle beside the film park. Its calendar also lists Anime On Ice, a special event that needs extra tickets.

The hall opened in 2008 as a television-ready multi-purpose studio. It is named after the German film classic Metropolis of 1927, large parts of which the director Fritz Lang shot in the Babelsberg studios. It covers 3,034 square metres, can be split into Studio Ost and Studio West, and stands right next to the Medienstadt Babelsberg.

Children's birthday parties are held on the ice, and school classes and groups of 20 or more can skate from 10:00 on weekdays outside the school holidays when they book ahead.
