Home of the Eisbären Regensburg since 1999

The Donau-Arena replaced the ice stadium at the Nibelungenbrücke in 1999 as the home ground of the Eisbären Regensburg ice-hockey team. A Bruce Springsteen concert on 23 April 1999 was the first big event in the new hall. Its official name, das Stadtwerk.Donau-Arena, comes from its naming sponsor, the Stadtwerke Regensburg.

The main hall's ice surface measures 60 by 30 metres and the training hall's 58 by 29 metres. The arena was extended from March 2015, adding 700 square metres of function rooms on the west side. For Eisbären ice-hockey games it holds 4,712 spectators.

EV Regensburg, EHC Regensburg and EC Regensburg use its ice and office space, and the Nürnberg Ice Tigers played their 1999/2000 European Hockey League home games here.
