The winter stadium in Rosice went dark in 2011: its original operator stopped running it and the stadium became non-functional. In June 2011 a handful of enthusiasts and friends of the rink founded a civic association, Spolek ZS Rosice, to bring it back.
The association bought the complex from its private owner, though, in its own words, no public institution was willing to take part in the renewal. Repairs and reconstruction began in August 2011 and concentrated on the ice surface, with the boards, benches, penalty boxes and protective netting all replaced.
The association says it is determined to put the stadium back into year-round operation and to offer everyone interested services at a standard in keeping with the history and condition of the rink.
