IJsclub Ruurlo, a 75-year-old club, moved to a new site on the Wiersseweg with a clubhouse built by members
Currently out of season IJsclub Ruurlo's natural-ice rink at Wiersseweg 47a in Ruurlo shows 'IJsbaan gesloten!' on its home page; when it opens, the club's Mijn IJsclub page lists 10:00 to 21:00 and day tickets at the rink. No sessions are listed here. Checked 10 October 2026. Official schedule update
IJsclub Ruurlo moved its rink to the Wiersseweg, a site the club says has proved ideal. On 17 September the chairman and secretary signed the ground-lease deed for the Wiersseweg, a moment the chairman called memorable because it officially completed the move of the club's accommodation.
The new clubhouse on the Wiersseweg was officially opened on a Saturday evening, with the unveiling of a new club logo, at the general meeting of the then 75-year-old club. Members built it themselves, and one long-serving board member put tireless effort into its construction.
Each year the club floods the rink on 1 December, as tradition has it, and the track committee takes the most important yearly decision: is the ice thick enough? The club welcomed its 1000th member and signed a declaration of intent with the ice clubs of Lochem, Laren and Vorden on skating training.
