A 1970s sports centre named for a three-term mayor

The Damien-Hétu sports centre in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts is named in honour of the town's former mayor Damien Hétu (1926-2010), who was a town councillor from 1959 to 1965, then mayor twice, from 1970 to 1974 and from 1990 to 1994, and who also served as the member for Labelle from 1985 to 1989.

Built in the 1970s, the centre holds an ice rink, a semi-Olympic swimming pool and a health bistro, and it is the home of the town's figure skating club and its minor hockey association.

The town provides adapted equipment for skaters with disabilities, among them a Lugicap, a reception support for wheelchairs, and the Beluga, a skating aid with a seat. The town lists both among the equipment it provides for public free skating.
