Opened in 1978, a 30 by 60 metre hall for hockey and figure skating
The Eissporthalle am Salzgittersee in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt opened in 1978. Its ice measures the international standard of 30 by 60 metres, and the two stands hold up to 1,600 spectators. The skating season runs from the end of September to the beginning of April.
In season the hall is a leading venue for ice hockey and figure skating. The Sportverein am Salzgittersee offers both, with strong youth work and a team in the Regionalliga Nord; SV Glück Auf Gebhardshagen concentrates on competitive figure skating, and the TAG Salzgitter Icefighters give beginner courses on Thursdays.
Besides the public sessions, the hall holds a Super-Disco on the second Friday of every month. In summer, when the ice is gone, it hosts concerts, trade fairs and exhibitions for up to 3,100 visitors.
